Please join the PCC Advisory Education Programming Sub-Committee and their guest speaker, Terry Jones on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 2 PM ET, as he discusses how the business landscape has changed and how managers can flourish in this permanently disrupted world.
Terry’s experiences prepared him to become CEO of Travelocity, which he led from a team of six to a three billion dollar, public company. He retired from Travelocity when it was taken private and then helped found Kayak.com, where he was chairman for seven years until it was sold to Priceline.
One of the best songs in the play Hamilton is “What’d I miss?” sung by Thomas Jefferson after he returns from five years in France. As we get vaccinated and return to the world from a year of lockdown perhaps it is time for “What’d I miss…in business?”
There have been massive changes in business and industry, and every company will have to adapt. GM has announced, no internal combustion cars after 2035 (and others have followed). SHELL announced it hit peak of production in 2019 and will install 500,000 charging stations. Google, Facebook, and Amazon now control over 50% of the advertising market and Ecommerce in the U.S. rose 32%. Amazon added 400,000 jobs in 2020, pushing their total employment worldwide to 1.13 million employees and Instacart added 300,000 workers to deliver food with plans to add 250,000 more!
